Sure we had a choice. We could have fortified the U.S., and stayed home. Polished off Japan, and finished the atom bomb while Germany and the Soviets sorted it out between themselves and the winner ate Europe and England. The bomb would have deterred attack on America for years, until the inevitable time when the Eastern Empire got its own bomb. But then, that's another story.

Might have worked out well. Mutual assured destruction keeping the peace for years. No Middle East problem, since the only Jews left on Earth would be in America. Not sure how many Muslims would be left in Africa and the Middle East after the Reich/Mother Russia got done with them either.

But we did have a choice. We chose to come to the aid of freedom.
