Atrocities in WWII concentration camp liberations

This post, I hope, will not be taken in the wrong way- I am just curious if there are any others that have heard the same reports... I have met 2 people that participated in the liberation of Dachau... They were both in the Thunderbird Division, one was my great uncle... Both were traumatized by the experience...

Both related that some american troops went temporarily violently insane when faced with the immense hellish horror that they saw there-
Both talked of execution of unarmed captured guards, (one of them cried at the memory)- they also describe handing some guards over to the prisoners that they had once tortured- the guards were "torn to pieces"... The impression I got was this insanity was short lived before discipline was restored...

I dont judge these actions- they shouldnt have happened, but I dont know how much sanity, humanity and discipline I could keep a hold on if I were faced with what they were faced with...

I did a short search on web on this incident, unfortunately many holocaust denial sites have tried to exploit the incident- I was wondering is any of you have more info on this? I have ZERO doubt that these things happened, the people I talked to were there and were obviously traumatized by it- they had no reason to lie
