re: If they had been reported, maybe 6 people wouldn't have been killed

Ask any WWII servicemen about Tokyo Rose's radio broadcasts. They'll tell you the Japanese were very good at monitoring American news sources and knew things that should've been kept secret. Had they known their balloons were reaching our shores, they almost certainly would've greatly increased the numbers being sent, which would've led to a lot more deaths. They might even have included some of the biological warfare agents developed by Unit 731 and used against the Chinese. How many people do you suppose might have died if that had happened?

Sometimes, the Press doesn't realize or care the damage they do. A few years ago, it was reported that the US was able to monitor bin Laden's communications. As a result, he changed communications techniques. Since bin Laden's goal is to make us all less free, how did helping him contribute to freedom?
