I'm no geologist, but I've got to think that the Mars program has some red-hot geologists in it, and more importantly, all the data is out there for other geologists to check them. Aviation Week (May 31) had a long article on the exact progress of the whole water-on-Mars analysis that was very interesting. Subscriber only online, but almost all libraries have it.
