There are times under the actions, responses, and excuses of the present misadministration that I am less than proud of my country.
As a military veteran, recent disclosures of prisoner treatment disgust and dismay me. Not so much because they happened, but because I get the sinking feeling they happened with the approval and complicity and sanction of those all the way up the change of command.
We are a better nation than we present today.
We are a more disciplined military, with a greater sense of responsibility than what passes as acceptable today.
I take hope in the knowledge that our system allows for change and the setbacks of the Bush misadministration can be undone by the people at the ballot box---assuming the ballots aren't programed to ensure a Bush win, and that all the ballots are counted this time.
