...but the old school in the DOD would also love to see him go bye-bye. After all when you choose a plan of attack that doesn't immediately send 300,000 troops rolling into Iraq, you risk losing the support of the Generals whose pork barrel practices put them at odds with the lean US force approach.
Very little has been mentioned about the fact that from the JCOS to some career DOD folks really wish Rumsfeld were gone. If the high-tech, reduced manpower war concept is proven sound - it means less $$$, less clout and less perks for these folks.
One needs only look at the ex-diplomats whose policy of appeasement failed and whom have been put on the wastebasket of diplomacy, as obsolete as the Berlin Wall, who now gather to make hay of dissension as they lay down their own discord for political gain. Make no doubt about it - these same folks would love a position with Kerry and don't care if they weaken the US internationally, or our troops in Iraq, to do it.
Power is everything for these folks. They complain about ideology because they have none.
Besides, no one wants to know what's in Bowser's dreams. That's the job for paid professionals.
