(Subtitle: Close-captioning for the irony-impaired)
Yes, it is indeed ridiculous to claim that the US government is connected to al Qaeda because one or more Americans are members of al Qaeda.
You see, this is called an "analogy". You latched on to an unconfirmed report that there was an Iraqi member of al Qaeda as if it somehow invalidated the 9/11 Commission's conclusion that there was never any connection between Iraq and al Qaeda, and magically validated all the Bush Administration "misstatements" on the subject. I came up with a closely-parallel assertion to illustrate the embarrassing lack of substance in your assertion. In formal terms:
Iraqi + al Qaeda = Iraq and al Qaeda working together
is equivalent to
American + al Qaeda = America and al Qaeda working together
If the second statement is ridiculous, then so is the first. Get it?

Let me spell it out for you
The whole thread (18 posts)
- 9/11 Commission says there is a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq.
- Link between America and al Qaeda!
- Of COURSE there was a link
- After all this time - one common name, no evidence of cooperation.
