re: Mozillas

The new script can be extended to support DNR, by editing the TOC to remove posts (and all replies) by anybody on a "shit list". The list could be stored in a cookie to run automatically each time the TOC is loaded. But I have some reservations about the social impact. It's the same problem as the "Balkanization" of news sources--it's a feature that would divide the Zone into discontiguous groups--people would have different experiences of the HabitableZone. I'm not sure it would be good to add a feature that would tend to subtly alienate people. What's your take?
I agree, If HZ had such a feature I would never use it. Athough threads have a beginning and an ending relationships (for better or worse) on the zone don't. That's what makes a community. Sometimes I like to poke my head into a conversation just to see what's going on. It can give a lot of insight into other apparantly unrelated threads as well. The better you know somebody, the easier it is to understand, talk or debate with them. I don't have a DNR list, but I do read some people less often than others. As Fox pointed out, the feature works great for finding the ones I'm looking for.

Also a side effect to a block feature would be that if someone thought he were being blocked, he could easily change his handle by a letter (Tom Broszz for instance) and get around it. Unless it were tagged to IP addresses this could create a zone of constant name-changers that would be extremely confusing.

One suggestion though. The highlight by date seems kind of limited. It would be neat to be ably to highlight posts between 2 dates or at least beyond the 24 hour mark. Sorry if I'm expecting a mile after you so painstakingly gave us an inch.
