"just" a dry suit? JUST? In -175C?

Zubrin's been smoking a little too much ganja from those Saturnian greenhouses, I think.

What Zubrin is proposing is only slightly less difficult than going scuba diving in a vat of liquid nitrogen.

True, there's no pressure problem, but that's easy. How much insulation do you have to put around someone to keep them warm when surounded by a 1 or 2 bar (not 4.5, I think) atmosphere at cryogenic temperatures? Remember, the thicker atmosphere makes it harder to stay warm, not easier, since you will far more efficiently shed heat than if you're only losing it through vaccum radiation. How easy will it be to design a suit that can effectively insulate against such temperatures, yet be thin enough to allow mobility, and also to not go brittle due to the temperatures. Sealing somone up in a dewar doesn't make for a very useful EVA.

I think he's also wrong about being able to just set fire to a jet of O2 -- Titan's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen, not methane.

Titan certainly would be a useful source of raw materials for the outer solar system, but it sure doesn't strike me as the place you'd want to put a colony.
