Sensitive liberals conjuring images of the planes being heroically downed by the USAF minutes after the hijack.

And, what would the conversation have been among the leftist intelligenzia when that was done? Would there have been speculation that it was overkill since the ultimate targets were unknown? Even if they had waited until the first crashed into the WTC, would there have been bleeding hearts who would have said that our efficiency in killing the passengers (and those killed by falling debris) was typical of a cruel administration that had no way to know what the hijackers planned?

Maybe we could have done it and maybe not but after hundreds of hijacks that never ended in this way, some hesitation should be expected.

Of course those who believe we had full prior knowledge of the entire plan will say there was no reason to hesitate.
