The "right" to bear arms inasmuch as a "well regulated Militia is necessary to the security of a free state does not mean an Uzi over the shoulder is an acceptable urban fashion accessory.
I parted company with the NRA over this years ago. I have a very nice collection of arms, and a concealed weapon carry permit. Please note: permit.
The Archie Bunker mentality of arms in the hands of the un-trained, incompetent and capricious walking around armed with AK-47s makes as much sense dropping the very limited restrictions we now have on operating an automobile.
Gun toting is incompatibile in a civilized state. 10 yr olds driving 3,000 lb vehicles wouldn't be acceptable to most adult drivers also.
The security of a free state is not infringed by having regulations on firearms and permitting requirements any more than the security of a free state is infringed by requiring a pilot's license to fly a plane.
