Afraid to speak out?

Elton John has said stars are scared to speak out against war in Iraq because of "bullying tactics" used by the US government to hinder free speech.

Seriously, what planet is Elton living on. Is there any rational person who thinks that USA "stars" clam up out of fear of government bullying?

I have no doubt that some (very damn few) entertainers avoid voicing political opinion but their concern is public reaction and loss of income, not the government. Johns is big time here, if he wants an anti-war song why doesn't he write one, or a whole damn album of them. Maybe he can get the ball rolling.

I doubt it was government agents in the audience booing the Dixie Chicks last year.
