As far as I am concerned, Arafat squandered his opportunity for a positive place in history when he spurned the Clinton sponsored peace initiative in late-2000. That was the best deal he was ever going to get.

Of course, what we are now witnessing is the death-gasp of the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinians, who danced in the streets of Gaza on September 11, 2001, have proven themselves unworthy of statehood. They have only themselves to blame.

My solution is to give Gaza back to the Egyptians and for Israel to annex the West Bank and given the Palestianians there something that they've never gotten from Arafat - freedom.
