Two problems:

1. Egypt does NOT want Gaza. It refused it in 1978.
2. Israel does NOT want the West Bank. I only wants the areas immediately surrounding Jerusalem. It can not possibly absorb the hostile Palestinian population. (Jordan has also renounced any claim to the WB, so there is no hope in that direction.)

Whether the Palestinians deserve a state is immaterial. They are going to get one. The kind of state will depend upon what they do with the opportunity.

Given that they supported Saddam in 1991 and 2003, given that they have followed Arafat and other terrorists blindly for over 30 years, the chances are rather good that the Palestinian state that will arise will be one that they indeed DO deserve. Unfortunately, they won't like it. But they WILL deserve it.
