Now stop to think about why he isn't one.

When I heard the mention of cynicism I thought he was addressing some (Kennedy, Gore, Dean, the media) Democrats because they are the ones who have been cynical towards Bush and dividing the country.

Opposing a politician is not dividing the country, at least not in a democracy, in which the political and governing processes are both supposed to be about opposition and support. Using adjectives like "unpatriotic" and "traitorous" to describe people who oppose a politician -- now that's divisive. Who has been doing that for 4 years?

The Democrats and lefty media have been furiously bashing and making unfounded judgment against President Bush only to be found innocent of the Democrats claims and then they turn around and act like it's the Republicans fault the country is polarized and in need of unity.

Sorry, guy: see above. After 9/11, the country as a whole was solidly behind Mr. Bush, in spite of a hotly contested election. Sure, there were people then who hated him, personally and irrationally, just as there are people who still hate Clinton personally and irrationally. What did he do with his unity dividend? He has played on fear of terrorism to keep everybody off-balance, proposed and supported measures designed to erode the Bill of Rights, and I'm sorry, but he lied to us about the justification for war in Iraq. Then, whenever people had the gall to disagree with his decisions and statements, out of the woodwork would come the troops. Traitors! Soft on Commun-- oh, I mean terrorism! Undermining the war effort! [Ignore that benefits cut to veterans and military families.] And, in case that isn't working: Queerlovers! Destroyers of marriage! ...heh

It's kind of funny, my sister used to do the same thing when I was right and she couldn't get her way. The mess she stirred up between us would end up being blamed on me and my parents sometimes bought into it.

Without more information about your family dynamics, I couldn't possibly comment. Could we get your sister over here to give her side of the story, or would that be Anti-family?

One thing some Zoners could take from his speech is that Christians are part of the left too and not go on with the Christian/Right bashing as policy.

I agree. You'll notice that the Christians on the left oppose the war on principle, and don't especially want their organizations to be supported by tax dollars. It's not about the religion; it's about the ideology. The sooner people begin to understand this about religions in general, the closer we will be to making alliances across religious lines to our natural ideological allies in other religions.

I also noticed the count all votes cry, except the overseas military ones I guess.

OK, I'll trade you: all the people whose names were stricken off the voting lists, unjustly, as felons when they weren't, all the people whose names were stricken for their felony records when they had gone through the legal steps to get their voting rights reinstated, all the people whose names should have been stricken for felonies but weren't: all those people for the overseas military votes. How close to even do you think we'd come?

All in all, a good propaganda speech for the Democrats.

Couldn't resist that little negative "propaganda" adjective, couldja? Tell me, when you go to someone else's church, do you criticize the sermon?

See you at the polls.
