Go for it.

I'm assuming that issues of motivation and intent would. as usual, sail right over your head in a moral argument, so let's do the raw numbers.

I understand that in your mind, dragging men, women and children out, shooting their brains onto the dirt, dumping them in mass graves, or skinning their heads and leaving them on display is completely morally equivalent to firing a missile at a military target and killing some civilians in the process, so we'll play your way.

A few rules:

Innocent people, not armed soldiers. So you don't have to throw in our troops killed over there, and you don't get to throw in armed enemies on the other side.

I assume you're going to count everyone the Taliban has killed over its rule. Don't forget New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. We're talking about after the Russians left, too.

I'm even giving you a big head start by not including the crimes of Saddam's regime in this to balance it out. We started out with Taliban, and we'll wind it up that way.

Oh, and you don't get to pull that phony number off of Iraqbodycount or its Afghanistan equivalent, either. Iraqis killed by direct coalition action. Bombs. Guns. Artillery. Not people killed by terrorists and insurgents. If you want a real number, dive into that list and do the work.

Here's a recommended starting point. Doesn't include routine individual executions, but nobody has been able to tally those accurately.
