Jacob, Clean coal can be a reality and energy recovered from its burning at even higher efficiencies than ever. Check out the technology described here...

...which can convert ~ 60% of the energy from coal into electricity and cool the exhaust down enough for ash and crap disposal. Or even better - carbon sequestration via mineralisation...
