The US wants to change the world?
Some guy wanted to do the same in the 20th century, from Central Europe.
That's obvious imperialism!
The mutual worldwide respect for the sovereignty of nations is far too strong for the US to be able to change the world, just like that.
After all, Fascism was a way of governing nations that was far more widespread that is islamic fundamentalism today. Only Iran has such a regime. Even Algeria has fewer fundamentalists than 10 years ago and in the other countries, their governments are US allies (Saudi Arabia, Pakistan).
The danger is to give those religious fundamentalists far too much importance.
From here, it looks very much like the US is creating the problem rather than solving it. The first step is to diabolize those the US wants to go after.
I just read that one of the reasons for the US to attack Iraq was that Iraq had wanted to use the EURO currency rather than the dollar for its oil trade. (Just a theory, isn't it? After all, who exactly knows why there's a war in Iraq?.
