Always liked the episode of MY Favorite Martian, where Uncle Martin's space ship gets sold to a park and the kids use it as a ride, he flys it off in the ending, so why not have these craft overfly populated areas enough times to get the public wondering what they really are and then BAM! Go public and say they exist.
