"Iraq has boasted that the Arab volunteers will follow the example of Ali Hammadi al-Namani, the soldier identified by Baghdad as having killed four US soldiers in a suicide bombing near Najaf on Saturday. "
I assume that "Iraq" without any other qualifications, means the current leader of the sovereign nation of Iraq.
But this seems fairly strange to say. So like Mark this stuck out in my mind- it was one of many things that seemed strange.
Now, the most important aspect is that Chris did not provide a link or mention of source. This is simply unacceptable. First it's stealing someone else's work. If Chris wants to write something then he should, But cutting and pasting other writers words without pointing to the source is strictly speaking against the law and in general, rude.
Second, who writes anything which is suppose to represent facts requires a source in order to help to determine it's value. Without being able to know the source, it's pure garbage.
Now, I briefly looked for possible sources and did not find anything- and considering that the importance of such statements as described, there should be a story concerning it. From my POV Chris's post was garbage that wasted some of my time to check out. I decided it wasn't worth any more time. But later Mark replied, so I read his post.
PS: in a Chris reply he said "This is not a new quote and there not my words...
I had thought I put March 31, 2003 in there..."
Well, as you can see if it's known that this was about 1 1/2 years old, then this makes quite a difference. Especially when the Board is "Current Events".
Further note: "Iraq" in this case would be Saddam.
