Mark wasn't quoting article he was using his own words- and I was copying Mark's post- "warned" or "threaten" was what that sentence can be summaried to mean.
Example:
I boasted that I would sue him
I warned that I would sue him
I threatened that I would sue him

I must say for an old news article which is 18 month old and practically meaningless in today's context, there is a fair of replies to it.
