As it now sits, the commentary reads:
"This event most likely occurred in the period after the move by the Chilicothe to Starved Rock on the Illinois River in 1683, and their subsequent move to Chilicothe, Illinois.
"After the Five Nations defeat by the western peoples, the Chilicothe would return to their homeland, the area around today’s Chilicothe, off the Ohio River. A partial solar eclipse was visible along the path of their return, at the junction of the Ohio River with the Mississippi River, the area of today’s Shawnee Springs near Cairo, Illinois, on June 22 ,1694, and a full solar eclipse was visible there on October 4th, 1717."
Other information will lead to refinement. The amazing thing is the possibility that the Chilicother timed their seizure to the eclipse. If so, it would be an indicator of the level of astronomical knowledge which they possessed then, knowledge which was later completely destroyed.
oh well.
