They believe what they want to believe regardless of the evidence. They report what they want others to believe regardless of the facts.
Even a five-minute examination of the document by any educated person would have revealed its fraudelent nature. For example, the wrong date format: May 7, 1963 instead of 7 May 1963 without commas.
