Seeing into the future...

When people complain that there is no way that spaceflight could possibly be cheap and easy enough for the rest of us, I remind them of what happened to the computer industry. It's not an ideal analogy--the technologies are apples and oranges to some extent--but it's worth remembering that a lot of our modern world turned out to be a complete surprise.
