A great quote from Aug. 1898 'Nature'

“Perhaps astronomy, the oldest yet most juvenile of sciences, has
still a few surprises in store for us”

Arthur Schuester, Nature, August 1898

IT IS ONE OF THE LAST LINES OF A LETTER TO THE EDITOR SPECULATING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF ANTI-MATTER... IN 1898!!!

Anyone that has access to that issue of Nature should look it up- it is possibly one of the creepiest letters to the editor I have ever read... Arthur extrapolated that since there was positive and negative magnitism and electricity there might be 'anti-matter'... he even hypothesized that comet tails were due to antimatter being repelled by the sun...

I contacted the historian for the physics department at Manchester University, he told me Arthur did live to see Dirac come up with theoretical evidence of anti-matter.

I hope to get a copy of that letter soon, I will try to post it here... it is inspiring...
