The funny thing is, do a search of the statements made by the politicians in Washington and you will find that is mostly Democrats pushing the idea.

I get the impression that if any Dems have put forth the notion of a draft that it's probably a tongue-in-cheek statement for purely political motivations and to show the irony of the fact that with a completely fair draft, the military would get sent a few sons and daughters of the wealthy. Have the feeling right now that anyone seriously putting forth a draft would be committing political suicide. It was one thing during the early parts of Nam when the Domino Theory was widely accepted and the war was pretty popular but for a war that, in its infancy, has the country so widely split, it'd be nuts to push for it.
