.. what does the usage of this symbol mean -

;)

Is it a smiley for people too lazy to press the 'shift' key?

Is it a type of half-smiley, like a qualified or reluctant smiley?

Is it maybe a smiley with a hanging booger?

- Or is could it be some weighted combination of all the above?

May I please be enlightened on the matter before I explode?

.. oh by the way, I almost forgot - :) .. now THAT'S a smiley!!
