When reciting the alphabet, both Americans and Brits pronounce the letter *I* as 'eye'. The Iraquis, or most Arabs for that matter, may very well pronounce their letter *I* as 'ee'. The Spanish also pronounce the *I* as 'ee'.
Definitely helps to hear the pronounciation of letters and words when learning a language.
