They seem localized to the Meridiani region.

Another reason I lean towards biology and away from the spheres being Tektites is that we see these all over the Opportunity site, but not the Spirit site. Currently, with what we know, they seem to be localized to the Meridiani area. They are the Hematite we see from orbit. If they were Tektites, Gusev should be full of them as well.

I believe the Spheres formed in the water that once covered Meridiani. What is unclear is how they formed. Was it biological or chemical?
