Brutality is everywhere. Indoctrination is everywhere. The US has always had its share of brutality. One need not be as vicious as the enemy. One certainly need not be as emotional as the enemies of America and the rest of the world. I think what David is trying to say is that lethal force needs to be employed against terrorist targets versus the police 'apprehension' approach advocated by Brussels and John Kerry.
The realization that one is facing a rather ignorant enemy that puts no value on life and, in fact, has developed a martyrdom industry, means the police approach will be ineffective.
Yes, as many say, that will breed new terrorists. However, new terrorists were being bred by the thousands long before any GIs hit the sands of Iraq. The new approach will reduce their number and their training centers and deplete their resources. It is also demoralizing for many. Despite their ridiculous religious indoctrination about heaven being a big harem--the majority of Muslims are not eager to die. When you realize you will be indiscriminately eliminated when you go on Jihad--the culture of Jihad will die out.
The reformation of Islam has begun. Right now they are still living in the 13th century. After a generation or two, hopefully they will live in the 19th century. In 50 years perhaps they can live like the twentieth century.
We reformed the Messiah cult that existed around the Japanese emperor. We destroyed the National Socialist political system and created a global culture that never tolerates it when it appears.
Islamofascism will be another such distasteful project. However, in time, anyone harboring Jihadist notions will be treated by the world as if they are wearing a red armband - or worse.

- Wrong: To WIN a war against terrorists, you must be just as mean as your opponents. You must do whatever they do, only do it first and do it better. The only rule is "there are no rules". (n/t)
- re: A clue: terrorist don't wear red armbands. I want us to remain as a country long after al Quede is fading memory. What you propose will make us cease to exist long before they do. (n/t)
- How is that different from Saddam, Hitler, Stalin, Osama bin Laden, Idi Amin, etc?
- Simple: We do to the terrorists what they do to their victims. Not just to random people, but to the terrorists themselves. I hope that you understand now.

- Clarification. You must be as mean to the terrorists as they are to the innocent. I did NOT mean to attack innocents. Got it? (n/t)
- Got it. No justice, no rule of law, no mercy. Just two sets of cutthroats going after each other.
