My favorite telemarketer story
Back in 1990, I was stationed on the remote Aleutian island Shemya. Being a crew commander, I had a phone in my room that seldom rang. One morning, following a midnight shift, the phone woke me. It was an MCI telemarketer asking me if I wanted to change my long distance service. He had no idea where on Earth I was located, he just had a list of numbers to dial and mine came up. All I could do was laugh.
And no, I didn't change my long distance service. I was able to call home most evenings for free, so why pay for it?
Three years later, I was an MCI employee.
