Your link makes a big deal out of the fact that, statistically, there is a 97something % chance that the actual number is between 4000 and 196000, however this is a normal statistical caveat and merely indicates that the study is not precise, not that it is bogus.
That's what MAKES the numbers bogus. I can offer a 97 percent chance that the number of space aliens living in San Francisco is between two and 1,000,000. What the hell does that prove?
Partisans are coming up with statistical fog to "prove" any number of things recently. This is just one example.
