Obviously, the child was not even in control of himself. He was not in control of the situation. He was 14, and without any weapons except his fists and feet. He's 14, and he was outnumbered by grown men.
Did anyone consider confining him to the room and calling his mother? No. The whole thing was about control, not about helping the boy.
