On the other hand, what would have been the reaction to, let's say, a broken arm resulting from restraint by four policemen? No doubt there would have been some claims of over-reaction. Restraint is never as easy as it appears
I suspect there will always be a natural loathing by some of non-lethal methods, regardless of how beneign they are.
If we had a perfectly safe pacification gas that could be sprayed to subdue, it would be seen by certain types as a threat to free expression.
