Just to show you how timid NASA has become...

...The day before the spectacular Leonid meteor shower, on November/17/1966, Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lowell returned
to Earth onboard Gemini-12.
That was gutsy scheduling for NASA. .... Cutting it close.
NASA wouldn't dare risk such a mission today. They would make sure
that the Space Shuttle would miss a meteor shower by a WEEK...at least.
