...I supported retaining the sanctions before the war. The point isn't what an article in Harpers has to say...the point is the sanctions and no-fly zones were working and the war was unnecessary. In the long run, retaining the sanctions and avoiding going to war was the better foreign policy and more in line with our own national interest. That was the case I made then, and its the case being made now. Going to war in Iraq was a terrific mistake and an utter lapse in judgement.
