The laser he used was visible, and as I predicted the beam pointed back to him like an arrow allowing this loser to be found quickly...

We go to great lengths to avoid any possibility of our laser getting ANYWHERE near a plane when we project our laser- First, we at all times have 2 people posted outside looking for planes and we shutter any time a plane gets remotely close to the beam, We cannot propagate below a certain elevation, we cannot propagate near clouds that could conceal a plane, and finally we have an IR camera looking out along the beam that can detect a plane even if its running lights are off and will automatically shutter the laser if it detects a plane...
