I have repeatedly stated that the elections do have restrictions on them. They are largely intended to keep Saddam's goons out of the system. They are no different or no more onerous than similar restrictions in many democratic nations, including those in Europe. As just one example, the Nazi Party is illegal in Germany. Do you think Germany does not function as a real democracy because Nazis can't run for office?

And you still have to live with the basic idea that if you were running things, Iraq would still be under Saddam's rule, with no democracy at all. How is this consistent with ANY of the concerns you bring up?
