If I still took you seriously, I'd have pointed out that the idiot in the video doesn't know what he's talking about. You can't buy "fully automatic" weapons at gun shows, or anywhere else without an extensive government permit process.

I'd have asked you to list the number of al Qaeda attacks on Americans to date involving firearms purchased in the U.S.

I'd have pointed out, as I have in the past, the statistics for what guns are actually used in crimes, where the guns come from, and who the criminals actually are. Hint: almost all of the weapons and people covered by the proposed laws do not fall into these categories.

I'd have pointed out--again--that more people were killed by guns in Chicago in 2012 than in all the mass shootings in the U.S. in the last 20 years. You can look up Chicago's gun laws yourself.

I went through all of this and more in excruciating detail a few months ago, and the response, mostly the usual demented fury, was typical. Progressives don't want to know, they want to believe.

I'm pretty much okay with that now. So is the Democratic Party.
