This was Obama after another mass shooting, but while he was still at risk for losing re-election.
The entire purpose of this recent dog-and-pony show was to pass "bipartisan" legislation out of the Senate, have it blow up in the House (you do remember this stuff has to pass the House, right?) and then blame the Republicans for everything. Again.
It blew up in his face.
Obama's entire purpose right now is to get the Republicans out of the House in 2014. Every "poison pill" he's proposed since last January has this in mind.
