Thanks! I should have known about Philips, at least, but I overlooked it. That example alone would make your point, and I stand corrected.

If you can get an exact brand and type for that instrument, I'm curious to know what its makeup is, and what might account for its cost. I know some radiation analyzers use exotic materials.
