The ELECTION will be the turning point. The people of Iraq is [not "are", but "is" is correct here] becoming enthusiastic about the possiblities of democracy. They plan to vote. They will vote, and some will be killed for voting or trying. But vote they will. When the ELECTED government comes to power, there will be no excuse for the terrorists, and no mercy for them either. The new government will display a brutality toward the terrorsts that will make anything that the USA did look like a joke. It will be payback time!

Unfortuantely, many Sunnis who are intimidated by the terrorists will be caught in the crossfire. By sitting out the election, the Sunnis will insure that they will have no say whatsoever in the new government. In a democracy, those who do not vote, do not count. In a government of many different parties, none controlling a majority of votes, the Sunnis could wield considerable influence by their votes in Parlement, but they will not. The self-disenfranchised Sunnis, who number only about 20% of the population, will face harsh reprisals by the 80% non-Sunnis whom their leaders persecuted and oppressed. Instead of playing the game, they are going to be the tackling dummies.
