There's a lot of stuff packed into that report. I have a tendency to take predictions like this with a large grain of salt--the CIA's prediction record (see: Berlin Wall) hasn't exactly sparkled in the past couple of decades. My main point was the "cherry-picking" that was done here.
Your points are well-made, and as you say, this isn't a surprise to thoughtful people. But to hear a lot of the popular opinion on this subject, Europe is the wave of the future, an up-and-coming economic giant, and the example America should be emulating.
