I am very concerned that we will let the Iraqis protect all of the polling locations without US involvement. I appreciate that It will look better if there are no Americans visible. But it invites all sorts of mischief.

- Simple attacks on polls handled by security forces in a less than effecient manner.
- Corrupted police forces taking over the polls themselves.
- Frightened police forces not showing up at all.
- Frightened voters not showing up because they don't trust Iraqi security. Gotta be somebody in Iraq who feels more protected by US forces.

I'm not saying all of these will happen. Only that they are real possibilities. George is taking quite a gamble. Makes you wonder how come he is suddenly worried about appearances.
