Extraordinary claims (Saddam has WsMD) demand extraordinary proof.
Bush multiplied declarations about those hidden Weapons, without ever producing the convincing smoking gun.
Throughout the world, journalists and commentators had more and more doubts about the veracity of his claims. It looked too much like war propaganda.
Conservatives may always want to have the last word, but facts are there and are impossible to avoid: the US attacked and invaded a country that had nothing to do with the earlier terrorist attack on its soil, nor was that country a threat to its integrity nor was any Iraqi a threat to americans.
These are historical facts and the US and its population will have to live up to it.
