It gets "better"
A return-from-Mars vehicle could also work as a return-from-Toro, return-from-Icarus, return-from-[your favorite asteroid] vehicle. By making the project "Moon only" they also exclude the asteroids which unlike Mars could also use the lunar landing technology.
This project has no pretense of being oriented towards general Space Exploration. It's another flags and footprints spectacle.
