If you place a straightedge intersecting the '70 point and intersecting the 2011 point, every single other point on the graph is below it. That's kind of the non-technical definition of curved, or as you put it "an increase of slope".

If you want me to download data from '58 to critique your statement, then you are working on a patented, right-wing non sequitor.
