(or should I say, statist drive to environmentalism?)is as strong, as organized and as well financed as the one for corporate power, then I suppose you will never have any trouble finding evidence to support it that will sound plausible to you. Personally, I believe there is absolutely no comparison between the two. Remember, the environmental side has no income, no wealth, no product, no leadership.
Even if what you say were true, how could they possibly get the resources to mount a challenge against a rich and powerful constellation of industries which has been fighting and winning these kinds of battles for over a century?
None of what you said makes any sense except as part of a disciplined and well-organized effort, supported by massive funding and political lobbies. You simply cannot compare the Sierra Club and a few college professors to the American Petroleum Institute. The latter, and its allies, funds itself with bottomless corporate profits based on massive commodity and product sales. The former sells...what does it sell, anyway? Brochures and PBS nature specials?
You're making it all up, perhaps subconsciouly, but you are building an Evil Enemy where none exists, to justify the harsh measures you feel compelled to take to destroy it. That's Paranoia.
Now, for the Narcissism. You identify, on a cultural and spiritual level, with the business community. You see yourself as one of them, at least in spirit and in shared values. If you are not with them it must be because that Evil Enemy has created conditions that make it impossible for you to rise to the position you feel entitled to. The Eternal Liberal has betrayed the Nation, stabbed us in the back. He is the source of all our problems. Well, all your problems, anyway. I'm doing just fine.
You are simply motivated by an embarassing admiration for the business community and its members so extreme and devoted that any thing they find inconvenient or annoying must obviously be subversion of the highest order, clear evidence of a Bolshevik underground to destroy Western Civilization simply to secure a lucrative position in the statist bureaucracy.
And you are further forced to believe, because of your ideological predilections, that any social, or environmental problems that arise cannot possibly be the result of your heroes' actions, but must come solely from malicious machinations of the press, academia, Hollywood, and the rest of your catalog of Evil Villains.
That is simply absurd. You simply cannot expect me to take any of it, or you, seriously.
