Perhaps this explains why Cowing has been so cranky lately...
Space is still expensive, and it will be for some time to come. It also has high risks of failure, and long pay back periods.
This generally limits it to large corporations, and in the case of manned efforts, the government. (By the way, not to take anything from Rutan and his team, if I'm not mistaken, and I could well be, decades ago the SR 71 regularly cruised above the maximum altitude reached by Spaceship One. )
Wanting to go does not justify avoiding your taxes trying to do it.
