Why wasn't this done? Because he promised her.

She didn't leave a document, but while she could still think and speak she said "no" to this often enough and to enough people to convince a court. Several courts.

The issue is, is the testimony credible, and if it is, are her wishes followed, or do her parents get to trump her wishes for the sake of their own feelings?

When you say it hurts no one to let her parents overrule her wishes and play with her body if there's nobody left in there flies in the face of individual autonomy.

If Michael Schaivo had wanted to benefit, he would have taken the at least $1 million offered to him and he would have hit the road. Yet, that doesn't seem to have lured him.

Instead, he is remarkably silent while people villify him -- notably the people who want to subvert his wife's wishes for her own fate, as determined by numerous courts -- and he turns down money to pursue what his wife said she wanted, after seeking aggressive therapy for her for many years. Just because he's quiet and they're loud doesn't mean he's wrong and they're right.
